I would talk to the organization that provided the service dog. I feel sure they would know all the ins and outs of the applicable laws. It's my opinion that they should allow the dog in the store, but then, I'm not a lawyer nor do I know that law.

No, they are *not* allowed to do this! The only thing that the store is allowed to do, is to ask you *if* the dog is a service dog used to assist with a disability. They can *NOT* ask you to show proof of said disability, and they can not ask you or the dog to leave the premises. That is illegal. Here is the website for ADA. It is most certainly illegal for them not to let your dog in, especially if he's wearing a service vest. It shouldn't be necessary for you to carry papers around with you, too. There was a case in Floria last year where a blind man wasn't all lowed in a little convenience store with his guide dog. The guy sued and won. Find a lawyer quick. You can definitely sue them. As long as your dog had the I.D. vest on, they should not refuse entry. They are not allowed to refuse entry to a service dog in training. I train dogs with a couple ladies who do the training for Therapetic Dogs of Oklahoma. They take the trainees out and about with them. They wear the I.D. vest and go to restaurants and stores.
